I went digging for razor clams last Sunday for the first time, and Bryan said I'm a natural. Find the 'tell' (mark the clam leaves in the sand), dig straight down really fast, reach arm down and feel around, grab clam, carefully work it up out of the sand. It was like a big party of hundreds of people spread all up and down the beach, kids, dogs, gulls overhead hoping to get a treat. Cleaning them isn't as fun, but not too bad, and they are pretty tasty.
I leave tomorrow morning to visit my mom, and my neighbor is watching the critters for me. I just got an email from the people I interviewed with last week, they haven't made their decision yet but expect to by the end of next week. My old boss also invited me to apply for the weed inspector position for this year, so hopefully I'll be working again soon.
